The International Association of Physics Students is a nonprofit organization (NGO) that promotes good relations among physics students — is known for holding annual physics competitions like the International Conference for Physics students which will be held for the second time in Asia, Philippines.

With the first conference being a success, this led to another one being held in Debrecen, Hungary in the following year. The participants then decided to assemble an international body to oversee and continue this friendly partnership being the International Association of Physics Students (IAPS) established on September 12, 1987.

The IAPS Members
The members — composing National and Local Committees (NCs & LCs) and Individual Members (IMs) — are the only ones able to attend IAPS events such as the ICPS.
​
There are a total of 65,000 members; 22 National committees, 23 Local Committees, and 150 individual members; wherein, the Philippines is included among the NCs.
